Award recognizes Cyient’s commitment to develop communication technology engineers of tomorrow
Melbourne, Australia, 29 August, 2017: Cyient Australia Pty. Ltd., a subsidiary of Cyient Ltd., has won the Communications Alliance’s 2017 ACOMM Award for Services to Industry – Professional Services. The award was announced during a ceremony organized by the Communciations Alliance in Sydney, Australia.
Cyient was nominated for its community development platform, the Cyient Graduate Program & Western Sydney University Partnership in Blacktown, Australia, which is an exclusive engineering program that was established in 2015. The partnership’s aim is to up-skill engineering graduates with on-the-job training, while sharing practical industry knowledge with the Greater Western Sydney community.
Commenting on the recognition, Sanjay Krishnaa, Senior Vice President, Communications and President Asia Pacific, Cyient, said, “At Cyient, we strongly believe in the culture of integrating societal development with the business goals of the company. One of our key initiative in this direction is the Cyient Graduate Program & Western Sydney University Partnership, which is progressing well and has received a great response from the industry and community. We plan to implement this platform across Australia shortly. It is an honor to receive an ACOMM Award that recognizes our incessant efforts in this area. Such accolades continue to motivate us to work towards our objective of increasing diversity in our talent pool and developing the engineers of tomorrow in an ever growing industry.”
“Cyient’s partnership with Western Sydney University is a testimony of their commitment in developing the skills and talent of the regional community, thereby spurring local economic development and employment growth. Cyient spends quality time in training our students and graduates both on-site and off-site, helping them strengthen their fundamentals and hone their skills. This enables the young talent to fast track their career within the telecommunications industry,” said Patricia Parish, Acting Manager, Careers - Western Sydney University.
The graduate program provides an opportunity and synergy between Cyient Australia and Western Sydney University. Each year, eight to ten students are employed by Cyient from the local community of Blacktown. These students work full time and receive on the job training within the field of engineering. This program has led to two main takeaways so far:
1. Up-skilling future leaders: The platform has enabled graduate students to function at a global level through a partnership with Australia’s biggest telecommunications provider. The tailor made training program strengthens the engineering foundation and combines it with new technologies, allowing continued growth and development of this young talent.
2. Innovation: Cyient has also encouraged the recruits to apply local learning to the operating environment, allowing them to test the boundaries and introduce change into the existing process through cutting-edge innovation. Cyient has improved the outcome for one of its Australian customers by days, as a result of innovative ideas received from the recruits.
