Launches landmark 54 Cyient Digital Centers (CDC) to empower 20,000 plus children and 50,000 plus community members and to participate more effectively in India's growth story

Hyderabad 29th August 2016: Cyient, a global provider of engineering, manufacturing, data analytics, networks and operations solutions, in a far reaching move, today launched 54 Cyient Digital Centers (CDC) across Serilingampally Mandal Government Schools in Ranga Reddy District of Telangana as part of Cyient's CSR initiative on completing 25 years. The inaugural took place at Shilpakala Vedika, Hitech City. The Honorable Chief Minister of Telangana Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mr. Kadiyam Srihari, the Minister for IT, MA and UD, Telangana Mr. K T Rama Rao along with Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder and Executive Chairman Cyient; launched the 54 Cyient Digital Centers. These digital centers are established in all the government schools of Serilingampally mandal in Ranga Reddy District of Telangana.

Mr. Etela Rajender, Minister for Finance & Planning, and Civil Supplies, Mr. Patnam Mahender Reddy, Minister for Transport, Mr. Arekapudi Gandhi, MLA Seriligampally were the other dignitaries gracing the occasion.

Envisaged to contribute to Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's National Digital Literacy Mission; the Cyient Digital Centers (CDC) are comprising of 3 functionalities – computer laboratory, digital library and National Digital Literacy Mission Centers. The aim of the CDCs is to provide high-quality digital educational resources to the community members and underprivileged students, and accelerate digital literacy. This will not only equip the community and children on use of computers but will empower them to be an active part of the country's development process.

The centers will touch the lives of more than 20,000+ underprivileged children. Additionally, each center is expected to train 1000 community members from the surrounding areas to operate a computer or a digital access device and use the internet. 50,000 pus citizens from the age of 16 to 60 years are likely to benefit from this initiative.

Features of Cyient Digital Center -

  • Online supplemental learning portal for students, teachers from classes 1 to 10.
  • CDs and DVDs to access offline content.
  • Curriculum aligned to CBSE, ICSE and SSC
  • Learning resources for Science, Mathematics, English and Social Sciences etc.
  • Facilitates digitally-enabled citizen services.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder and Executive Chairman Cyient, said "Since our inception 25 years ago, Cyient has been relentlessly committing a portion of our profits towards numerous social initiatives. And while the education of underprivileged children has been central to our social endeavour, we also strongly believe that digital literacy is a must for any child to take part in the digital economy and India's growth story. Today as we celebrate Cyient's 25 years, these 54 Cyient Digital Centres is a little token of gratitude towards the society. I'm very positive that these digital centres will be a great step towards democratizing learning for students. These children will have access to high quality digital educational resources and boundless wealth of knowledge. It is also a humbling moment for Cyient as we progress towards our dream of making our citizens digitally literate and empowered."

More than 2500 Cyient Associates have spent 9000+ volunteering hours through participation in various Cyient Foundation activities on their holidays.

Community Development: Cyient Foundation has enabled making of a smart village by adopting Moksha Gundam village and is working on developing roads, sanitation facilities, primary health, education and drinking water under a program designed by AP State Government.

Swachh Telangana– Swachh Pathashala: As part of the Swachh Bharat Initiative, Cyient Foundation has introduced the Swachh Telangana-Swachh Pathashala campaign to provide water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities in 54 government schools. Impacting more than 18,000 students in Lingampally Mandal in Ranga Reddy District, Telangana.
