Kakinada, India 11 January 2013 – The Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Union Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Mr. M. M. Pallam Raju inaugurated Infotech Enterprises’ new development center at Sarpavaram SEZ, Kakinada.
The five acre sprawling campus houses the development center building with a built up area of 52,000 square feet. The center will deliver cutting-edge solutions to customers primarily in the Oil & Gas, Energy and Utilities industry. It currently has 650 seats and employs 850 professionals. Infotech plans to ramp up this facility to 1500 seats and employ 2000 professionals by 2014.
The new development center is Infotech’s seventh in India and second in Kakinada. It is by far the largest technology center in a town of size of Kakinada. The center has been set-up with a clear objective of creating local employment. The center will constitute over 95% local and 30% women employees.
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister was briefed on several projects executed by the Infotech team for customers in India and the rest of the world. Infotech demonstrated end-to-end solutions for safety-critical projects in aerospace, rail, hi-tech, consumer electronics and in-car navigation applications. The dignitaries also witnessed leading edge technologies being practiced, innovations and how these projects ultimately benefitted the consumers.
Infotech strongly believes in corporate social responsibility. Consistent with its commitment, Infotech adopted a local government school in Sarpavaram. Infotech has also set-up an Avionics M.Tech program in JNTU Kakinada by providing an avionics lab, enhanced course curriculum and adjunct faculty. The first batch of students will be graduating this year. Infotech also provides several scholarships for needy students of JNTU Kakinada.
Under the campus connect initiative Infotech has adopted fourteen engineering colleges and set-up industry and faculty linkages. Infotech is helping these colleges improve the employability of students by developing curriculum, courseware and providing faculty. Infotech is also working closely with external agencies and Government on employability initiatives. Students from these institutions are being provided summer projects and are being given preference in recruitment. Infotech is also supporting the local ecosystem via culture, heritage and green initiatives.
