For connected medical devices, cybersecurity vulnerabilities can affect more than data protection. Weaknesses across firmware, communication protocols, network interfaces, PKI, and configuration can have implications for patient safety, regulatory confidence, and continued clinical use. Medical technology companies therefore need to strengthen security across the connected platform while maintaining clinical continuity and regulatory readiness.
This case study reveals how Cyient helped a global medical technology manufacturer strengthen the cyber resilience of a connected ECG platform through vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, threat modeling, failure simulation, PKI validation, and remediation guidance. The program eliminated 94% of identified vulnerabilities, reduced the attack surface by 87%, achieved UL 29001 certification, recorded zero critical FDA findings in subsequent reviews, and established a repeatable security model for connected medical platforms.
