Debjani Ghosh is a respected leader in the technology industry and currently serves as a Distinguished Fellow at NITI Aayog. In this role, she spearheads the creation of a pioneering frontier tech think tank aimed at enhancing India’s readiness in emerging technologies to drive economic growth and societal development.
With over 28 years of experience, Debjani has held key leadership positions, including at Intel and as the first female President of NASSCOM. Throughout her career, she has played a critical role in advancing India’s position as a global hub for innovation. A prominent voice in AI and technology, Debjani advocates for a human-centric approach that balances economic progress with societal well-being.
During her tenure as Nasscom President from April 2018 to November 2024, Debjani reshaped the organization’s focus, significantly elevating its influence on frontier technologies and strengthening India’s deep tech ecosystem. Through her leadership, Nasscom emerged as a key player in global discussions on technology, pushing for positive change both domestically and internationally.
Debjani has strongly advocated for India’s leadership in the global tech landscape, emphasizing the country’s unique potential to lead international collaborations rooted in sustainable and human-centered innovation. Her initiative, “Think Digital. Think India,” helped redefine India’s image from a low-cost outsourcing hub to a global leader in talent and technological innovation. In 2020, she introduced the concept of the “Techade,” a vision for a transformative decade where technology would reshape industries, governance, and everyday life. Her “Inevitable India” strategy further underscored India’s role as a key partner in global innovation and digital transformation.
A firm believer in lifelong learning, Debjani attributes much of her success to her curiosity, adaptability, and resilience. Her journey—from studying economics and political science to becoming the first woman to lead Intel’s South Asia operations, and later making history as Nasscom’s first female President— exemplifies her commitment to growth and her determination to challenge traditional boundaries.
Debjani’s contributions have been widely recognized. In 2018, she was honored by the President of India as one of the country's pioneering women leaders. In 2022, she was included in FemaleOneZero Magazine’s “40 Over 40 – World’s Most Inspiring Women” list, and in 2020, Vogue named her “Tech Leader of the Year” for her leadership in navigating the tech sector through the pandemic. She was also recognized among the “100 Most Influential in UK-India Relations: Celebrating Women,” further highlighting her global influence.
In addition to her leadership roles, Debjani serves on the boards of Karmayogi Bharat and the RBI Innovation Hub, contributing to developing India’s innovation ecosystem and digital economy.
