Infotech announces endowment for innovation in eye care at LV Prasad Eye Institute

Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, 25th October 2013 – As a part of its business aligned initiatives aimed at giving back to the society, Infotech Enterprises Charitable Trust (IECT), the CSR arm of Infotech Enterprises has come forward to support the Innovation Center at LV Prasad Eye Institute. The vision of this Innovation Center is to provide infrastructure to support research, develop new practices, tools, capabilities in the field of Ophthalmology, and also serve as an ‘idea hub’ for knowledge dissemination.

Infotech Enterprises Charitable Trust (IECT) will contribute an amount of Rs. 2.50 crores over a period of five years. Apart from this monetary support, Infotech will also leverage its engineering capabilities to help LVPEI in developing new products for diagnosing eye diseases and imaging eye tissues – products that will be helpful in disease management, therapy, and rehabilitation of vision impaired patients.

As a measure of gratitude and with the aspiration of making a difference to the society, Infotech spearheads CSR initiatives through its Infotech Enterprises Charitable Trust (IECT). “At Infotech, we believe in the philosophy that sustained development of the society is vital to the sustained growth of businesses that exist within that community. This belief has led us to spend over 1% of our net profits in the past towards CSR initiatives and increase the spend to 2% in coming years” says Mr. B V R Mohan Reddy, Chairman and MD, Infotech Enterprises Ltd., and Founder of Infotech Enterprises Charitable Trust.

Since its inception, IECT has conceptualized and enabled various social initiatives including the adoption of 13 government upper primary schools across Hyderabad, Kakinada and Noida, supporting more than 10,000 underprivileged children; and whole heartedly contributing a sum of Rs. 40 Lacs to Uttarakhand flood relief earlier this year. IECT also helped 3,000 school children in the New York area by providing school books, backpacks, and other essential supplies that were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy in October, 2012.
